Obituary
Willie J. Wood, 97, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on September 18, 2022. He was born in Scottsville, KY on April 28, 1925, to Hayden “Bud” and Maria (Lewis) Wood. Willie served proudly and honorably in the US Army during World War II. He was an electrician and spent his career and retired from the FAA. Willie who is preceded in death by his first wife Margie (Elmore Wood, and his second wife Betty (Hammons) Wood, is survived by his son Bruce Wood; daughter Deanna (Steve) Nash; grandchildren Josh Wood, Jennifer Okonkwo, and Jacob Wood; great grandchildren Caleb Freund, Colin Freund, Caden Freund, Carson Freund, Cole Freund, Cora Freund, Cara Corbin, Carmen Okonkwo, Claire Okonkwo, McKayla Wood, and Madilyn Wood.

We first met Willie at our local church, Chapelwood Baptist, about 2+ years ago. He became a good friend through our weekly coffees and worship times, sitting side by side. We loved his stories, Willie’s enthusiasm for singing, his desire to serve others…but most of all an abiding love for his Saviour.
Willie's wit and smile and genuine interest in the visitor drew many to him and then to Christ.
He is missed for a season, loved for our lifetimes and most importantly, loved by Jesus.
