Earl Miller

Earl Edward Miller, age 96, of Whitestown, Indiana, passed away on July 13, 2026. He was born on September 13, 1929, in Bloomington, Indiana, and lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, hard work, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew him.

He was the son of the late James Miller and Lillian Miller, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, lovingly known as “The Wild Miller Boys,” and his beloved wife, Catherine Miller, with whom he shared a remarkable life and a marriage built on love, companionship, and shared adventure. Earl was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his family was one of the greatest joys of his life.

Earl is survived by his daughters, Judy Crady of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Tammy (Edward) Sine of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind , his one and only granddaughter, Michelle (Justin) Stoner of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and his grandsons, Adrian (Julie) Crady of Brownsburg, Indiana, Jacob (Nicole) Troup of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and Nathaniel (Winnie) Crady of the UAE. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Camille Flohr of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Connor Flohr of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Calhem Flohr of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Bryce Troup of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and Colton Troup of Greencastle, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by many extended family members.

Earl’s life was one of service and dedication. As a young man, he worked as a caddie and developed a lifelong love for golf. He later answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy with his mother’s permission, and he proudly served for 22 years. His years in the Navy reflected his sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism, and he carried those values with him throughout his life. After his military service, he worked as a postman at the local post office for a number of years before fully retiring.

In 1951, Earl married the love of his life, Cathie, and together they shared 74 years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and unforgettable memories. They especially enjoyed square dancing, traveling with friends, and visiting family across the United States. At one point, they even traveled by motorcycle, embracing life with a sense of adventure and fun that remained with them through the years. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment and companionship, and Earl spoke of that love through the way he lived each day.

Earl was known for his warm personality and his genuine love for people. He loved to smile, laugh, make jokes, and sing, and he had a way of bringing joy to those around him. He was affectionate, funny, adventurous, and full of life. He also enjoyed solving sudoku and jumble puzzles, especially when they were easy enough to make him smile. His sense of humor, easygoing nature, and ability to connect with others made him a treasured presence in the lives of his family and friends.

Those who knew Earl will remember a man who lived with heart, humor, and courage. He was loving in his relationships, funny in his conversations, and adventurous in his spirit. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, devotion, and joy, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
