Joe and I go back several years thanks to the South Central Association for Clinical Microbiology of which he was one of the founders of the organization. Joe was an outstanding Clinical Microbiologist and an expert in Mycobacateria tuberculosis. He taught me much and I will forever grateful for his mentoring and friendship. My fellow colleagues will miss him greatly but are thankful that he touched our lives and had a major impact on our careers. I often referred to him as Rev. Joe Brickler, due to his preaching to us on how to be good clinical microbiologists. He was one of a kind and I extend my deepest sympathy to his family. Blessings, Jim Snyder Louisville, KY
