William Glennon

William James “Jim” Glennon passed away Saturday February 5, 2022. He was 79. Jim was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 3, 1942 to parents Bill Glennon and Rosalie (Quinn) Glennon. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army and in Vietnam. Jim went on to work for General Motors and then began his 30-year career as a professional truck driver with Vans Cartage and the Kroger Company. He was active in the American Trucking Association's Truck Driving Championships for many years, competing and winning at the state and national level and mentoring countless others throughout his career. He won 12 State Championships, a National Championship, the National Vehicle Condition Award and was inducted into the Indiana Motor Truck Association Hall of Fame in 2019. Jim was a devout Catholic and a member of St Christopher Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He lived a full and rewarding life, with a steadfast faith and love for the Lord and his family. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Jeannie Robinson, and brothers Kevin Glennon and John Glennon. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Glennon, sisters Annette McKimmie, Mary Rose Glennon, daughters, Ann Marie Scharlau (Greg) and Kathy Rokita (Todd) five spectacular grandchildren James, Sarah and Emily Scharlau and Teddy and Ryan Rokita and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held Friday February 11, 2022 at 11:00am at St Christopher Catholic Church in Speedway Indiana, with a visitation preceding service from 9am-11am at St. Christopher Catholic Church.
