Judy Barnett

Judy Ann (Reed) Barnett, 73, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022 at IU West Hospital after a brief illness. She was born January 29, 1949 to Walter and Elsie Reed – the second-born of six children and the only daughter. Judy graduated from Cascade High School with the class of 1967 and studied at John Herron School of Art. Judy used her artistic talents to illustrate ads published in the Indianapolis Star for the for the former Liberty Bell Store on the Westside of Indianapolis. She spent her working years in a tobacco store and a used bookstore. The bookstore was a perfect match to her love of reading. She always had a stack of books next to her chair or beside her bed. Her favorite topics were historical romance and science fiction. She continued to create art in the form of paintings, pen and pencil drawings and crochet for many years. Judy will be missed by many but especially her loving family including: her husband of 43 years, Jack Barnett; beloved daughter, Delzie Rebecca James (Ralph); step-daughter, Loretta Odle (Kerry); granddaughters, Jessica James, Alexis Odle and Emily (Patrick) DeSabato; great-granddaughter; Leanora DeSabato; brothers, Junior Reed (Donna), Harold Reed (DeeAnne), Steven Reed, David Reed and John Reed (Linda); along with many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Calling with the family will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Stevens Mortuary 5520 W. 10th Street Indianapolis, IN 46224. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM. Pastor Bruce Cook will officiate. Memorial contributions in Judy's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
