On Saturday, December 10, 2022, Carolyn “Susie” Guilfoy, loving mother and Grammy passed away at the age of 64. Susie was born March 25, 1958, in Olney, IL. Susie lived many years in Hannibal, MO before moving to Indianapolis, IN where in 2001, she married the love of her life, Tom Guilfoy. This is where Susie found a great passion for providing childcare for families around the community and did so for over 15 years until moving to Quincy, IL and retiring. Susie's pride and joy were her grandchildren, and her biggest smiles were when they were around. Susie enjoyed flowers, photography, and gardening. You could always find her behind the camera taking pictures of family and nature. She also collected teapots and enjoyed going to antique stores. Every morning Susie would wake up and enjoy a quiet cup of coffee while relaxing in her cozy pajamas. Susie was preceded in death by her husband Tom and brother Kenny Reever. Susie leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters Amy Hutchinson, April Gibbons, Autumn Gibbons, and Alexis Guilfoy; son Joey Nelson; stepdaughters Christie Fossett and Nicole Heim; 13 grandchildren; parents Marjorie and Robert Cross; and brother Larry Reever. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Stevens Mortuary from 11am – 2pm followed by a graveside blessing at Calvary Cemetery.

Susie had been a part of my life since we first met in first grade. We remained close all through high school and for a number of years after that. We lost connection with one another for quite a few years and finally reconnected while she was still living in Indiana. One of my favorite memories was sitting in the back of the classroom in high school and not being able to look at one another without laughing. We would laugh so hard we would cry. Susie was a very special person who truly loved her grandchildren. She talked a lot about them. She has been my friend longer than anyone else. I love you, Susie, and will miss you so much!
