Mary was one of my favorite residents. I watched her go home but she came back to stay multiple times. I would always say Miss Mary what is it this time? I would name off something and She would just giggle and say I missed you. She ALWAYS had her rites crackers and diet coke at bedside. She always had some crafts that she was working on to coloring to diamond jewels. I could always Count on her to talk to late at night or to have a good laugh with. Since she was a night owl.

To know Mary is to know her through her daughter Kristi. Kristi has told me so many great things about you, and especially how strong you were… such a fighter til the end. May you rest in peace and watch over your mini me Kristi.

I first met Mary Joan Tomey around 5 years ago. We met thru Ancestry DNA. We discovered we were 2nd cousins. I corresponded with her by phone, FaceTime and email. My biggest regret is that during all the years that I visited my grandparents, Clarence and Goldie Kayler in Indianapolis that I never got to meet her. Joan was only 3 years older than me and I think we would have enjoyed knowing each other. Unfortunately Covid and Joan's health kept us from meeting in person. I really enjoyed what time I had to spend with her. She seemed like such a sweet and caring person. Christine Smith

Kristi, I’ll always remember your mom. She was so supportive of you and all of us kids in the band. I admire and respect you for how you compassionately cared for her. She was very proud of you.
