Alyssa R. Hawkins, 22, of Indianapolis passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023. She was born in Indianapolis to Joseph Aaron Hawkins and Stephanie L. Smith on March 23, 2001. Alyssa graduated from Ben Davis High School in 2019. She worked for Dairy Queen from 2017 until 2021. In 2021, she began working for Costco in Avon where she was currently employed. Alyssa had a beautiful soul, she was witty, fun-loving, courageous and strong. She packed her 22 years of life with laughter and love. Alyssa wanted to give the gift of life to others by being an organ donor just as her dad did 18 years ago. Her family and friends consider her a true hero. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph A. Hawkins; grandfathers, Daniel D. Hawkins Sr. and Michael H. Dryer; grandmother, Patricia Rose (Leggans) Hawkins; aunts, Dana Hawkins and Christina K. (Dryer) Struver; and uncles, Daniel D. Hawkins Jr. and James Hawkins. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Stephanie L. and Daniel Smith; grandmothers, Kathleen M. (Mader) Dyer and Linda S. Smith; grandfather, Thomas M. Smith; aunts, Debbie Carter, Michele A. (Kevin) Hernly and Tammy (Larry) Strunk; and her uncles, Gene Michael Hawkins, Tony (Deidra) Smith and Scott (Nancy) Smith; and many cousins.

My memory of Alyssa is when her daddy past away , it was very traumatic for her and Steph. My husband and I bought xmas for her that Christmas. I think she was 4. Alyssa was a sweet girl, I know her and her dad are together whole again. Prayers for all

Aunt Steph and Dan I just wanted to let you know that I am here for you guy's. Alyssa was my cousin her dad was my Uncle Joe and my dad is Gene Michael Hawkins. Me and Aunt Steph were pregnant together and my daughter Cheyanne was born March 20th and 3 days later on March 23rd my beautiful prescious cousin Alyssa was born. I remember slow walking because I just had my little girl up to the hospital were Aunt Steph had my cousin and I couldn't wait until we all got home I remember walking in the room and Aunt Steph and uncle Joe were there so proud of her as I was I got to hold and love her before my mommy emotions kicked in and I had to get back to my daughter at a totally different hospital lol. And poor Uncle Joe had an heart attack in the process of Aunt Steph giving birth. I just can't believe this OMG. I love you Aunt Steph and Dan I messaged you in messenger please call me anytime I'm clean and have been for years now.

Alyssa i knew you when you were in your mom's belly. You were a beautiful girl inside and out.you were sweet and funny and loved girly things like painting your nails. You loved going to hotels and swimming.You were a blessing to your mom and dad they loved you so much. I remember when your dad passed you were super little but you seen your dad waiving at you in your room and you wanted a picture of Jesus. You were loved and cared about by so many people The last time I seen you we all went to church together and then went out to eat after church. You were so mature and had such a good work ethic and seemed very grown up from that little girl I remember so well. I know you are at peace w Jesus and family members and your dad. Love Teresa
