Cory A Heyob died unexpectedly at his home on August 4th. He was born November 19, 1977, to Mary Lou (Collins) Heyob and Joseph O Heyob Jr. He was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis. Cory attended St. Gabriel Grade School, Brownsburg Junior High, and graduated from Cardinal Ritter High School.

Cory's life's work was as a CNA at Brownsburg Health Center where he was adored by the residents, their families, and his coworkers. He had a vivacious, energetic personality and a smile that could light up a room. His laugh was often referred to as devious. If you were down and out or in need Cory would do anything to help “pick you up,” including giving you the shirt off of his back. His personality included much grumbling and eye rolling when asked to do a task, but then he would get right to it. He inherited a love of musicals from his grandfather, mother and aunts.

In addition to his parents, Cory is survived by his siblings Pat (Jen) Heyob and Eric (Brad Jackson) Heyob. Niece Josie Heyob and nephew Leo Heyob. Many aunts and uncles, and a multitude of cousins; and his beloved dog, Sauerkraut.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother Rhett Heyob.

cory has always been a good person. sarcastic & funny, but gentle and caring. i’d always come to wing 6 (back when i still worked at brownsburg health) to see cory for a little bit & see how he’s doing. he cares so much for the residents. he always played movies for them & did their hair. he really loved the residents & it wasn’t hard to see that. i will never forget his cute chihuahua sauerkraut that he cared so deeply for. when i first started working, cory sometimes would bring in sauerkraut to put smiles on our faces. i thought cory’s relationship with sauerkraut was so adorable! cory did anything to make people happy. the last time i saw him which was a few months ago now, i told him i was moving out of state. he jokingly said “let’s celebrate a going away party for you” & i couldn’t stop laughing. i loved his sarcasm so much. it gives me closure that i was able to hug him one last time that day. cory, you are so loved. you will be missed dearly. thank you for making my job more lively & happy. - carlie zehnder (dietary)

Loved Corey! Love and prayers go out to family and friends. I only knew Corey for about a year and a half. He took care of my dad at Brownsburg Health Care. He was unique and special and real. He was personable and I knew he loved his momma and doggie. I saw him care for my dad and all the women on that hall. He went above and beyond when it came to caring for the residents. He will be missed greatly. Lord, please give him a hug from me♥️ ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Cory was a very beautiful person inside and out a special friend to always pick me up when it's a bad day at work always had something funny to say to keep you laughing and always fed you when you were hungry he will truly be missed farewell good friend love you. Vickie Matthews

To the Heyob Family, Please know that you are in our every prayer. Cory will be part of your lives and with you, always. Sharing the following meditative piece that I ran across many years ago, that reminds us of God’s Grace. Warmly, Dave, Carrie, Erik and Samantha Meditation I asked God for strength, that I might achieve. I was made weak, that I might learn to obey. I asked for health, that I might do greater things. I was given infirmity, that I might do better things. I asked for riches, that I might be happy. I was given poverty, that I might be wise. I asked for power, that I might have the praise of others. I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God. I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life. I was given life, that I might enjoy all things. I got nothing that I asked for -- but everything I had hoped for. Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered. I am, among all, most richly blessed.
