Michael “Chiqui's” spirit, his infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family have forever imprinted our hearts. He became a hero, not only to us, but to three other children as he generously gifted to of himself in his final days to save their lives. Now, as we remember and celebrate the beautiful life of our beloved Chiqui, we invite you to take a journey with us through the cherished moments that made him the extraordinary soul that he was.

Michael loved spending time with his family, especially holidays. His family, even his little brother Emilio from the time he was born, always attended all of his sports activities and other events. Michael loved attending Emilio's football games to support him. Michael was very close to Emilio and very protective of him. There wasn't much that they didn't do together.

Fortunately, Michael was able to spend time in Durango, Mexico with his mother's family. He attended his first year of preschool there; and was fluent in Spanish by the time he returned home. This enabled him to translate for Spanish speaking students throughout the years.

At the age of three, Michael embarked on a journey in martial arts, beginning with karate and later transitioning to Jiu Jitsu. His dedication and hard work earned him numerous gold medals in competitions. He was also skilled in wrestling, proudly holding gold medals for his accomplishments.

Sports became a significant part of Michael's life, starting with flag football at the age of three. He loved pulling all of the boys' flags, including his team members, always playing with enthusiasm and spirit. He enjoyed soccer, but was the first to volunteer to rest on the sidelines. Michael excelled in baseball and football, accumulating numerous trophies and medals along the way. He took part in Cub Scout meetings and activities, eventually achieving the rank of Boy Scout in 2020.

In the seventh grade, Michael discovered his passion for percussion, showcasing his talents on the xylophone in the school band. He was a self-taught electric guitar enthusiast, proudly declaring it his favorite Christmas gift.

He also enjoyed swimming and fishing. A talented angler, he proudly out-fished his friends. He recently spent an hour or so just casting in the pond behind his grandmother's house. He embraced new experiences that he shared with his brother Emilio, including skateboarding always eager to try new tricks. Michael's adventurous spirit extended to target shooting with his dad and Emilio, always prioritizing safety as his dad taught him. He proudly wore his Marine cammies with patches, a testament to the bond he shared with his dad.

Michael's dad had truckloads of dirt dumped in the pasture behind their house to create hills for Michael and Emilio to climb and jump; and indulge in dirt bike riding. Michael recently drew his own plan for a more challenging track. He was working with their friend and neighbor, Danny, to complete the plan with his tractor. Michael's passion for dirt bikes led to his first race, and he eagerly anticipated more. Michael shared his love for BMX bicycling with Emilio, and they had exciting plans to build new freestyle bikes, having already ordered the frames.

Michael was a quick learner when it came to mechanics, working on semi-tractors, changing tires, and even welding with his dad. Together, they explored the world of welding, visiting the Ironworker's school for lessons.

He cherished his time with his dogs, Duke, Apollo, and Chapo, and he eagerly anticipated meeting the puppies Apollo had recently sired.

Michael was a Freshman at Western Boone High School. He was very excited about starting his new school and making new friends. He had been in “high ability” math since sixth grade, which meant he was always one year ahead of his grade. Michael was trying to work his gift for math into a career choice. He wanted a career where he could set his own schedule so he could also continue racing dirt bikes. Becoming a dentist was his number one career choice as he felt like it met the criteria he wanted for his future.

Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Carl Michael Simion I; and his maternal grandmother Magdalena Martinez Esqueda. He is survived by parents: Carl Michael Simion II & Gloria V.
