Ann Groshong, also known as Mrs. Groshong, Miss Ann, Grannie Annie and Pinky passed away at age 93 on Monday, December 25th, 2023, peacefully at her home.

Ann was born in Richmond, IN, on January 3rd, 1930, to Chauncey D. Hubbard of Filmore, IN, and Bertha F. Vannice Hubbard of Darlington, IN. She was the eldest of 2 children. 

Ann spent her childhood through college years in Terre Haute, IN. She attended ISU working toward a teaching degree in Special Education.

Married in 1957 to the late Duey W. Groshong and had 3 children; Elizabeth (Betsy),  followed by her son, John, and youngest Susan.

Ann was the rock of the family and the heart of her home. With her family orientation and open heart, she always welcomed everyone, as demonstrated by a frequently full house of all the neighborhood kids. She was often busy taking a car load of kids to the drive-in, roller skating rink and many other sporting events and functions.

After her children were no longer "babies" Ann returned to the workforce in retail which became a long career. She began with Lazarus and ended at L.S. Ayres/Macy's, retiring at the age of 79.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Chauncey and Bertha Hubbard, Aunt, Gladys Hubbard and her brother, Richard (Dick) Hubbard.

Ann is survived by her 3 children; Elizabeth (Betsy) Groshong, John Groshong and Susan Emerson, her Grandson, Devon Massing and 3 Great Grandchildren; Lexie Bess, Sophia Massing and Theodore (Theo) Massing.

Ann was honest, loving and as fair as the day is long.She was a Mother to many, a hero to some and a loving memory to all who knew her.

Services will be held at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46224, on Saturday, January 6th, 2023. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM. Pastor Ken Loudenback will be officiating. Interment services will be held at Crown Hill cemetery immediately folowing the funeral service.

Annie lived a wonderfully full life...smiling up to the end. Her heart belonged to Christ. I believe it showed. She raised her beautiful children , caring n loving w good morals...She was a Beautiful person from her heart to her being. She Will be missed by many. My Sweet baby girl is what I called Ms Ann and she reply i am older then you and u call me sweet baby girl she loved it When first meeting her she said to me do u like dogs i said yes i have 4 she said good then i like u cause u like animals especially dogs. Then we bonded.She was a kind and happy woman,,caring ,great hearted woman always making sure her daughters were okay and always asking me how i was feeling .I was her caregiver and we were friends and she was like mom She is going to be deeply missed My heart is saddened by the loss of you .Rest in peace Baby Girl Ms Ann Love and miss you Kelly Going to miss our conversations we had You r now and Angel up above with God at your side looking down always on your Family keeping an eye on them all

To the Family of Mrs Ann Groshong, you’re are in God’s hands now. you are an angel in heaven, for we know that you got your wings once you walked through the Golden Gate. for I know you will be back to spread your wings over your loving family, friends, Neighbors and all the caregivers who took care of you. you have been a great inspiration, as well as guidance to me and I love you for that. Elizabeth and Sue as one of her caregivers, you have done an Excellent job in taking care of your mother through her loving days . So very sorry to hear this …Ms Groshong has been my neighbor for over 20yrs she was so kind to myself and my son , May God Bless her family she will truly be missed.
