She was born in Decatur, IL and reared in Columbus, OH, Cleveland, OH, and Fort Wayne, IN. She earned a bachelors degree in Public and Environmental Affairs from Indiana University, Bloomington and a certificate from International Business College, Fort. Wayne. During her career she worked at Lincoln National Bank, Morris Plan, The Indianapolis Star-News, Bell Industries, and the State of Indiana. She is survived by her sisters Virginia Cowen, and Theresa (Peter) Crean, and brother-in -law Kurt Hedegard, nieces Kathleen Crean, Stephanie Crean, and Virginia Hedegard, and nephews Mason Hedegard and Peter Crean, Jr. For those who knew her, we ask that you remember her for her empathetic, sensitive, and loyal nature. As we navigate this difficult time, we are focusing on celebrating her life. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 7, 2021, with a memorial gathering from 2:00 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Society of St. Vincent Depaul Indianapolis 3001 E. 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46218.

Truly, Kate was an empathetic and kind person! I had the distinct pleasure of working with Kate in 1999 through 2000 at Eli Lilly, on a team comprised of Kate, 2 other team members and I. What a wonderful experience it was! Kate's smile, constant positive attitude and positive outlook on life and every person, was infectious and uplifting! And her laughter, one can never forget! We briefly stayed connected all of these years and it was always so nice to see Kate never change. She will always be remembered! She will always be missed!
