Obituary for Mary Ann Currier

 

Survived by daughter Deborah Currier Racster, son Kenneth Ray Currier, granddaughters Casey Jo Currier, Elizabeth Stetson, Abigail Stein and grandson Isaac Currier Racster.

Survived by sister Sydney Grimm Lamprecht (Clem), brother William Grimm (Louise), and step-brothers Charles and Jim Butts.

 

Parents Dallas Clinton Grimm and Elsie Kolpin Grimm.

 

Mary Ann was born in Hammond IN , and grew up in Griffith IN.

Mary Ann was a high school cheerleader and graduated from Griffith High School in 1952. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Currier. They moved to Tuscaloosa where Bill attended University of Alabama . Mary Ann worked as a secretary at University of Alabama .

 

Mary Ann was a full-time homemaker as the family grew. She was a supportive room mother, and always present when the children arrived  home after school. When the children reached high school, Mary Ann returned to work in an assortment of secretarial jobs, and eventually found great pleasure working in a local Hallmark store. Writing letters and cards, and corresponding with family and friends was a great passion.

 

Mary Ann was deeply devoted to Bill and followed his lead in their life together. In 1974, they attended a spiritual growth conference, searching for a more meaningful life. The Gospel was delivered telling of Christ's sacrifice for our sins, His burial, and His resurrection on the third day. Mary Ann gave her heart to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and lived her life following Him.

 

Mary Ann's life changed when Bill died at the end of 2020. Her devotion to her Lord helped her day by day. She had many friends and received compassionate care at Prairie Lakes Assisted Living. Her health declined rapidly in recent weeks. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff at Prairie Lakes Assisted Living for their kind and loving care.

Dear Deb and Ken, and the rest of the Currier-Grimm Family, Cousins Gari and I send our heartfelt condolences during this sad time of loss of our beloved Mary Ann. Jack and I were neighbors of Bill and Mary Ann on Wheelwright Ct in Plainfield. They were always cheerful, caring and people of faith. Bill was the dog walker and the dog loved to cuddle with Mary Ann. We moved to Florida a number of years ago but always remember what wonderful neighbors they were. As I was writing Christmas cards today, I wondered if Mary Ann had passed, since I hadn't heard from her last Christmas. I found her obituary and now I know. I loved Mary Ann's sweet and loving ways. She and Bill were very special to my husband, Rod and me during the years we lived in Avon, Indiana and attended church together. I was a counselor at the local Pregnancy Resource Center for 10 of the years we lived in Avon, and Mary Ann and Bill were always so supportive of the ministry. We enjoyed doing several Walk for Life fundraising events together. I respected Mary Ann and saw her as a very faithful, kind, and caring Christian friend. I know she is now with Jesus in heaven and probably enjoying a wonderful Christmas celebration there.
