Linda L. Long, of Mooresville, IN passed away on August 7, 2024. She was 79 years of age. Linda was born in Tompkinsville, KY in July of 1945 to Ray E. and Nettie Birge, both preceding her in death.

Linda was a beloved homemaker, mother, grandmother and loving friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed working in her garden, cultivating and watching it grow. She found enjoyment working puzzles, quilting, watching the Hallmark Channel and took the game of Putt-Putt Golf seriously. Linda's family was the most important part of her life. She valued her time spent with her family. She loved and supported each unconditionally, and it is evident through the love and support her family has for one another.  Linda was indeed loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Eddie E. Long; two sons Gregory Lee and Terry Milam; four brothers Bob Birge, Harold Birge, Kelly and Shelly Birge; and three sisters Evie Moore, Brenda Moore, and Mary Lena Birge.

Linda is survived by her sons Christopher R. Milam, Todd Milam; daughter Melinda Milam; three grandchildren Aaron Simon (Autumn), Dallas Amber Lynn Milam (Ryne), and Courtnee Jane Milam; five great grandchildren Kenzlee, Saige, A'Zaria, Jaylen, and Luke; sisters Dorene Hard, Nancy McIntyre, and Sondra Richey (Tony); several nieces and nephews; her special friends whom she loved as sons Anthony Mastropaolo and Tiny Rumbaugh; and her most beloved fur babies Boogie and Bella.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask that instead a memorial contribution be made to the either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Morgan County Humane Society 690 W. Mitchell Ave. Martinsville, IN 46151

My fondest memory of Linda is when I was pregnant with my daughter Autumn. I stayed the night with her and I went into labor. She was so funny running around after calling mom and dad to come get me to the hospital. She paced the floor looking out the window saying " come on Loyd before she has this baby". I started laughing and she told me "stop laughing before you drop that baby on this dirty floor. I laughed even harder. She went as far as to getting out the mop and bucket. Thank you Linda for always being there. I love you and I will miss you. Give mom and dad a kiss for me.

I remember when I was little, Grandma Linda would make me pajamas. She would take me up to her sewing room, measure me, pick out some fabric and get to sewing. She made quilts, pillows and other things.. and she was very good at it. I remember one summer, in particular, we sat on the front porch snapping peas. We would walk around the whole yard taking care of her flowers and vegetables; she took pride in her yard and her home. We would also deliver vegetables and eggs to her friends and neighbors. She took care of everyone around her. I could go on and on; there are so many memories. Everything about her was magical. She was the Grandma every kid could ever dream of, and the most beautiful soul.

I remember staying with Aunt Linda and her making all the kids homemade "big burgers" with everything including shredded lettuce, pickles and a sauce that was special. They were so good! I also remember all of the hours she gave up to be with me and my brother when our dad( her brother) was sick and in his last days. She was also there for us when mom passed. She was such a selfless person and would do anything to help without hesitation. I love you Aunt Linda and am going to miss you and I'm jealous of the reunion you're having with the rest of the family in Heaven!

I will always cherish the memories of my Ma and the special moments we shared together. I remember waking up to the smell of her homemade gravy with toast, a comforting breakfast that always started off our day right (and always asking for seconds and thirds). I remember watching her play electronic Yahtzee in the kitchen and sitting on the front porch playing jacks. Helping her in the garden picking tomatoes or sitting on the front porch snapping peas. She always called me her “angel”, a nickname that made me feel so special and cherished till this day. And her handmade wind spinners, twirling and dancing in the breeze, a reflection of her creativity and love for beauty in everyday life. My Ma was a woman of strength and love, and I will hold onto so many memories forever in my heart. She will now be my angel from above ❤️

One of my fondest memories of Aunt Linda was being at Grandma and Grandpa Birges house on a Sunday night with her, her sisters Brenda and Sonnie and sitting on the floor in front of the TV. We were watching Ed Sullivan when he had The Beatles on his show for the first time. Her and Brenda were screaming and clapping and it scared me and Sonnie cause we were not teenagers and didn't know what it was all about! I miss those early days and I will forever love her like a sister. RIP Linda. I love you.
