Obituary
Elsie Mahler Marcotte, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 3, 2026, in her
hometown.
Elsie is survived by her children, Ann Miller (Tim), Sherry Pesch (Matt), Mary Beth Duffy
(Tim), and Susan Zurcher (Cory); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her
sister, Frieda Mahler.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald Marcotte as well as her
brother George Mahler and sister Elizabeth Keenan.
Elsie was born on August 30, 1938, in South Bend, Indiana, the third of four children.
She married Don in May 1961, and they soon began their family. In 1973, a job change
brought them to Indianapolis, where they made their home.
Elsie cherished time with family and friends and was an avid cook and baker. She and
Don enjoyed traveling, live music, and celebrating her German heritage. Elsie and her
family were longtime active members of St. Christopher Catholic Church where she
volunteered for their yearly festival and prepared food for bereavement meals for many
years.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m.
at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 5301 W. 16th St., Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul at
