Mary Ella Via Loftus,64, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 22,2009. She was born on January 17, 1945. Mary is survived by her husband, Terry Loftus; son, Jason Loftus; daughter, Jennifer Loftus; sisters, Alice Benjamin and Susan Nalley and brothers, Bill, Fred, Joe and Jim Via. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 2:30 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 1401 S Mickley Ave, with visitation there beginning at 12:30 pm. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.leukemia-lymphoma.org. Arrangements were entrusted to Stevens Mortuary & Family Center, 5520 W 10th St, Indpls. Online condolences may be made at www.stevensmortuary.net

I am thinking of you all during this difficult time. Mary and my first husband, Pat Bowling, were 1st cousins. We lived in Indianapolis in the 70's and got to see Mary often, especially when we went to visit Clara. She was a kind person and pleasant to be around. SHe was also very direct which is a trait that I have to come to appreciate in people. I will keep her and her family in my prayers.

To the Loftus and Via Families, I am so sorry for your loss. I've been honored to know Mary since high school and I must say the one thing that has never changed is her caring heart. Always willing to give of herself whether it was for her family or friends. The medical field is a better place for having her presence all of these years as well. Mary's was always willing to give of herself even when she was fighting her own battles. Thank you Mary for the privilege of letting me and my family be part of your life. I have choose a guardian angel image because Mary has been a guardian angel to so many people in her life. We love you so much and will forever hold you in our hearts. May you rest in peace.
