Raymond Dault

Raymond A. Dault, 86, Speedway, passed away on August 14, 2009. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on June 30, 1923, the son of the late Joseph and Louise Dault. On October 19th, 1946 he married Joyce J. (Martin) Dault. Ray served in the United States Army in the European Theater. After his honorable discharge he graduated with a B.A. in Hotel Administration from Michigan State University, and the ranking of Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Military Police. He later received his M.B.A. at Indiana University. Ray spent his entire life in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management. He was the Executive Director of the Indiana/Indianapolis Hotel and Motel Association for many years. He served as Assistant Manager of the Indiana Memorial Union at I.U. and later as the manager of the Student Union and Food Service Building at I.U.P.U.I. Upon his retirement Ray served both Purdue and Indiana University as Professor Emeritus until the time of his death. Ray was very active in his community. He was a member and held many positions with the Board of Trustees for Speedway Schools, Ronald McDonald House, the greater Area of Speedway Chamber of Commerce, and the Speedway Lions Club. Of all his activities Ray?s most beloved was his portrayal of ?Santa? during the holidays. He served in many locations and churches in the area. His great loves were Riley Hospital earning him the only ?male? membership in the Cheer Guild of University Hospitals and in his own Catholic Community of St. Christopher. Ray is survived by his loving wife Joyce and daughter Suzanne Raye Mueller. Also surviving are brothers Robert (Bette) Dault, and Stanley Dault, and one sister Joan Gawron. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Ellen Dault. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Louise, two brothers. Richard and Clarence Dault, and one sister Barbara Foucher. Visitation will be held in the Emmaus Way gathering space at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 5301 W. 16th St., Speedway, IN 46224 on Friday, August 21 from 11am to 1pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Friday, August 21 at 1:00 pm. Inurnment will be at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Muskegon, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Speedway Dollars for Scholars, the American Cancer Society, St. Christopher School, or the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Stevens Mortuary and Family Center.
