Obituary
Carla Jean McKinzie Of Brownsburg, passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2009 at Methodist Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 25, 1954 to Norma (Williams) Sauer and Carl Sauer. Carla worked several years in insurance sales. She never knew a stranger. She loved church, her grandchildren, playing cards and Dominoes. Carla is survived by her husband Don, father Carl, children Jackie (Keith) Smith, Jeffrey (Rene) Stahl; three step-children Bryan McKinzie, Rachel (John) Tilson, Michelle Matthews, four grandchildren Sydney, Jay, Peyton and Ethan; five step- grandchildren Jessica, Kyle, Andrea, Megan and Shelbey; brothers Steven (Linda) Sauer, Gary (Sarah) Sauer and Tom Sauer. Carla is preceded in death by her mother Norma Jean Sauer, brother Fred Sauer and mother-in-law Stella McKinzie. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m., with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. service Fri. October 23 at Stevens Mortuary and Family Center, 5520 W. 10th St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Sat. Oct. 24 at St. Gabriel Church . Contributions may be made to Sheridan Christian Academy and St. Gabriel School. www.stevensmortuary.net

Aunt Carla, We are going to miss you, but the memories of our time together will live for ever. Playing dominoes and cards with you and the family was always a fun activity. I will always remember that. Another memory that I will always remember is the last time we all went to the Zoo together. You bought Emerson (my daughter) a stuffed animal from the gift store. It was a little baby Jaguar. You didn't know this, but that baby Jaguar became Emerson's favorite toy to be with. We couldn't go anywhere without it. Emerson is now three years older, and she still sleeps with it in her bed every night. You definitely made an impact in my daughter's life. We miss you already. Love you, and give my love to Grandma and Scotty too when you see them.

I will always remember Carla's smile and how she inspired me to keep exercising at our pulmonary rehabilitation group at Methodist Hospital. The afternoon the four of us "Babble Babies" spent having lunch and talking about just about anything was one I will not forget, especially the laughter we shared. I know you are laughing in heaven now, Carla.
