Obituary
Barbara A. Yerich Higdon 61, St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at home. She was born in Indianapolis on May 26, 1948 to Bronko and Bessie (Coleman) Yerich who survive. Mrs. Higdon lived in St. Petersburg for the past 13 years after having resided in Brownsburg for 40 years. She was a 1966 graduate of Brownsburg High School. Besides her parents, Mrs. Higdon is survived by her children, Jeff Higdon of Atlanta, Georgia and Lesley (Bob) Woods of Hamilton, Ohio. Other survivors include a granddaughter, Madelyne Woods; sisters, Donna (Dwight) Barger and Linda (Kevin) Rollings, both of Brownsburg; brother, Jim Yerich of Elgin, Texas; special son and daughter, Todd Falconbury and Tricia (Furey) Poindexter; and 6 nieces and nephews. These are only a few of the people who will sadly miss her kindness, warmth and her wonderful sense of humor. Services will be held at Stevens Mortuary & Family Center, 5520 W 10th St, Indpls, on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be there from 4-8 pm on Thursday, October 8. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 941 E 86th St, Suite 100, Indpls, IN 46240 or to St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, 7855 Marsh Rd, Indpls, IN 46278-1626. It was my pleasure to have the opportunity to meet Mrs. Higdon during one of her visits to see her son, Jeff. Within minutes, her warmth and smile forever endeared her to me. I always tried to make it a point of seeing her whenever I could after that. She was a special woman and will be missed by all who knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with Jeff, Lesley, and the rest of Mrs. Higdon's family during this difficult time.

Barbara was my best friend for many, many years. I am just stunned to hear of her passing.Barbara was such a great girl and I say girl because I am confident she kept her youthful attitude. It ironic, both of us being so much alike in many areas, we both ended up with cancer invading our lives. My deepest sympathy to Barbara's family and to all the people that knew and loved Barbara. I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Barbara. She was a wonderful person. Although I lost track of Barbara and the rest of the "Yerich" family over the years, I still remember the fun times we had on Janet Drive. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

The memorial service was very touching. Bobbie will be missed very much by all who had the pleasure to know her. Just being around her was a pleasure, she always had a happy demeanor and was so easy to talk to. God bless and keep her. She was a real gem.
