Obituary
Jacob William "Jack" Schaffer 85, Speedway, IN, died Dec. 15, 2009. He was born July 29, 1924. Mr. Schaffer retired from Allstate Insurance in 1991 after 28 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of St. Christopher Church. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing and was a ham radio operator. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Christopher Food Pantry. Survivors include wife, Maxine Heriter Schaffer; sons, Mark (Leslie) Schaffer, Barbara (Tony) Fiorillo, Robert (Heidi) Schaffer, Douglas (Robin) Schaffer; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. I'll always remember the way Jack would reach around Maxine in the kitchen to sneak a warm butter cookie all the while calling her endearing names like "mommy".
