Doris Colleen Price Alvarez 50, of Indianapolis, passed away January 21, 2012. She was born July 13, 1961. Doris worked for Brylane for 15 years in customer service and also with Ivy Tech and IU Health. She volunteered for IOPO and was the chairperson for the transplant support group at IU Health Methodist. She received her Associates Degree in medical assisting through Ivy Tech. Her mother, Ellen C. Price preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Ricardo Alvarez, Sr.; son, Ricardo Alvarez Jr.; daughters, Elizabeth (Josh) McGraw and Catalina Alvarez; father, Ed Price; sisters, Debbie Riser and Dianna Acu¤a; brothers, Pat, Mike and Eddie Price; grandchildren, Camren and Kelby and her best friend Jeanne Cherry. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stevens Mortuary and Family Center, 5520 W. 10th St. Indpls. with a service at 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to IOPO. http://www.stevensmortuary.net

Remembrance....You can shed a tear that she is gone or you can smile because she lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. We just wanted to let you know our hearts and prayers are with all her family . As we all go thru this difficult time just remember all the good times and the memories you shared with all of our friend. She was so great with the volunteer work she done with IOPO (as we all are trying to do). She made such a difference not only in your families lives but in all the other lives she touched when she would reach out to someone else in need. She was and always will be alive in your hearts. Don't let her die because he body is gone. Live and live for all the good she stood for.She helped me understand alot of things when my father got sick and I will always be thankful for her and the time she took out to sopend with me personally. My sympathies to the Alvarez family for their loss. I knew Doris from high school and beyond and it is sad to know that she is gone. She lived a good life, had a family and friends who loved her and what better can a person leaving this world have had.
