Obituary

Jerry Dewayne Carper, 81, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on November 28, 2024, Jerry was born on July 20, 1943 in Warsaw, IN to Glen D. and Ruby D. (Evans) Carper, both preceding him in death. Jerry worked for General Motors, UAW for over 35 years. Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lu (Rose) Carper, children Jeremy Carper and Mary (Keith) Downey; grandchildren Samantha Downey, Chris Downey, and Cameron (Rosanna) Mitchell; great grandchildren Waylon Mitchell and Lindy Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly ask that contributions in Jerry's name be made to Spondylitis Association of America at spondylitis.org.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on December 6, 2024 at Stevens Mortuary 5520 W. 10th Street Indianapolis, IN  with visitation from 9:00 AM until time of services. Interment will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery in Merriville, IN.

I have nothing less than the deepest respect for Mr. Carper. I have known him for a very long time. He was always so kind to me.

Bruce and I send our prayers to the whole Carper Family. I am proud to say Jerry was my friend and cousin by marriage. You will be missed. You had the greatest sense of humor, You loved to pull one over on all of us. I remember those well. We played bridge for hours on end. (I have not played since I moved to NY.) Your laughter and yes your tears will be missed. We love you Jerry. I trust you are dancing with Jesus and high diving all our relatives. Big Big Hug from Bruce and Ronnie (Nelson) Hughes.
