L. Legge

L.Norman Legge, born May 30, 1925, to Harry A. and Ruth P. Legge of Urbana, Ohio,passed away June 2, 2012. Having grown up during the Great depression, he learned and passed on the importance of self-sacrifice and working together for the common good. Norm attended Urbana High School where he made lifelong friends, helping in recent years to organize the 60th and 65th "Class of 1943"Reunions. In1944, at age 19, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and trained in New York and California before being assigned to the Pacific Theater. He flew missions from the Philippines to Japan in order to protect those he loved back home; particularly Janet Dugan,whom he returned to and married June 12, 1948. The couple moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and raised six children. They are charter members of St. Michael Catholic Church. Norm retired from Allison Division of General Motors after 36 years, and continued his involvement with friends he'd made at work in the Allison Salaried Retirees meetings and the Old Fogeys Golf Club. Norman valued his Faith, his Family, and his Country and respected his role of Father,which was to be a provider, protector, mentor and friend. After his wife's passing in 2007, he was blessed with love and companionship of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many friends. He is survived by his 6 children, Ruthann (Roger) Aull, Michael (Christina) Legge,David, Douglas, Pamela (Robert) Lunsford, and Norman (Jean) Legge, 14 grandchildren: Ashley, Emily, Alex, Elizabeth, Nathan, Anneliese, Shannon,Christa, Megan, Maria, Luke, Rachel, AnnaMarie, and Dan, as well as 5 great grandchildren: Jackson, Sydney, Avery, Mason, and Emmitt. Contributions may be made to the Carmelite Sisters In Oldenburg, IN, Autism Speaks, or to the St Michael Church Endowment Fund.
