Duane Zishka

Duane R. Zishka, 60, Speedway, passed away at home on October 20, 2012, with Sharon his devoted wife of 33 years and loving family by his side. Duane was born on May 28, 1952 to Joseph A. and Audrey F. (Bateman) Zishka. Duane received his Bachelors of Science degree in Forestry from Purdue University and was employed with Uzelac & Associates as a property tax consultant. He was a recipient of the very distinguished council-level Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self- sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. Duane also enjoyed camping, hiking and woodworking. Duane is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Hamm) Zishka; sons, Anthony Zishka and Timothy Zishka; daughter-in-law Wendy Zishka; sister, Anne Zishka and brother, Kennan Zishka; three nieces and four nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 24th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indianapolis. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 25th at 11:00am in St. Christopher Catholic Church, 5301 West 16th Street Indianapolis; IN. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
