James Strack

James R. Strack, 78, of Indianapolis passed away December 20, 2012. He was born on January 23, 1934 in Indianapolis to Fred and Helen (Meyer) Strack, who both precede him in death. James was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School class of 1952. He worked as a journeyman sheet metal worker until his retirement 16 years ago. He was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local # 20 for 60 years. He served in the Army from 1954 - 1956 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred; sister, Mary Casey and one grandson. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Agnes (O'Connell) Strack; sons, Michael (Sue) and Mark (Carol); daughters, Marie (Terry) Smith, Melinda Marlatt and Monica (Eddie) Buttler; grandsons, Michael Jr., Matthew Smith and Travis Buttler; granddaughters, Taylor Marlatt and Amanda Buttler and a brother, George (Margaret) Strack. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27th from 3:00 to 8:00pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 28th at 11:00 am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1530 Union St., Indpls. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul or the Seeds of Hope.
