Obituary
Helen I. Roush Pierce-Sweetman, 82, of Indianapolis passed away January 19, 2013. She was born April 2, 1930 to Lafayette A. and Edith A. (Knight) Roush, both preceding her in death. Helen was a member of the George Washington High School 50 year club and Chapel Rock Christian Church. She retired from DOW Chemical after 25 years of faithful service. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 18 years, David B. Sweetman who passed away in September of 1991; sisters, Betty Adams and Dorothy Grott and brothers, Lafayette A. Roush Jr. and Max C. Roush. Helen is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Harris; sister, Eileen M. Davis; grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Scudder and Kevin (Angela) Harris and 2 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Ava Scudder. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22 from 3 pm - 8 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 11 am also at the mortuary. Rev. Dean Dickinson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.

Dear Aunt Helen, you will be truly missed. I can still hear your laugh...loudly...LOL. You always made us laugh. Even though when I was little you always bought me underwear for Christmas. You are leaving us with many good memories. I hope my mom greeted you when you reached heaven. Now the both of you can do lunches again. :) Love you, Christy

On the day my grandfather was buried, Helen made Jeff and me laugh so hard I thought we were going to be thrown out of the funeral home. I was so grateful to her for that--it was a wonderful reminder of how joyful life is, even when we're focused on death. Helen, we miss you. Thank you for all that you have been (and are) to my family.

What joy to see "Mom" so peacefully at rest today. I will miss the long distance conversations we shared and her wonderful laugh. She had a gift of being able to laugh at herself and with others. She did that well and often. I will take that simple gift we shared, pay it forward and in that light, cherish it forever. Heaven is happier with Helen's arrival!
