Jody Lewis Nunnally, 55, of Indianapolis died Monday May 27, 2013. Jody was born in Mesa, AZ on July 12, 1957 and is survived by his parents Leroy and Gladys (Rackley) Nunnally. Jody was and airline mechanic for AAR, United and Lucas Aviation. He is received his Bachelor's Degree in general studies from Indiana University. He loved building models, playing golf, writing children stories, playing the piano, guitar and trumpet. Jody served in many leadership positions for over 30 years and once served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a dedicated foster parent of 41 different children over the years. Jody loved to participate in charity work like walks, runs and bike rides. He also participated in the mini marathon and night ride. He was preceded in death by a daughter Jewel A. Nunnally-Phillips. He is survived by his wife Jean, his parents Leroy and Gladys Nunnally of Anniston, AL, two sons, Javan L. Nunnally and Jaron O. Nunnally both of Indianapolis, a daughter Jeanna E. Nunnally of Indianapolis, two step-sons, Justin M. (Rachel) Bingham of Northville, MI and Joshua W. (Sandra) Bingham of Lincoln, CA and a son-in-law Douglas (Sarah) R. Phillips of Indianapolis, four granddaughters, Elyse and Charlotte Bingham of Lincoln, CA, Moira Bingham of Northville, MI and Lily Phillips of Indianapolis and four grandsons, Jack Bingham of Lincoln, CA, Lochlan Bingham of Northville, MI, Landon and Colton Phillips of Indianapolis and four brothers, Roy Nunnally of Mesa, AZ, Ben Nunnally of Anniston, AL, Mark Nunnally of Dallas, GA, Dan Nunnally of Golden Springs, AL. "...I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." 1Nephi 3:7 Visitation will be held on Friday May 31, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Stevens Mortuary 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A funeral Service will be held on Saturday May 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 110 N White River Pkwy W Dr., Indpls. Interment will follow in West Ridge Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Mortuary. I knew Jody back in school. He was the kindest, nicest, person. From what I have read recently, this never changed. People that knew him were blessed for it. My husband and I send our deepest condolences for their grief. Jody was a hero to me. As an RN for many years, I had several patients that suffered his diagnosis. He faced it with grace, determination and strength. He lived longer than anyone I've know with the diagnosis. I told him several times that he was a miracle. Good fight, Jody. Now, rest. I only met Jody once, at his Mom and Dad's house. But, he was immediately likeable, and had a wonderful quiet peaceful nature. He had a nice, soft smile, and enjoyed laughter. He was a pretty good little singer, too. My Mom always says that when The Good Lord gets ready for you, he will simply take you, whether you're washing dishes in the kitchen, or skydiving. God knows why, when, and decides the exact moment we come into this world, and he also has long known the exact moment when he will call us from this Earth. A Jody story from dear ole days at Saks High. After many hours of band practice in the hot sun, the sound of the very talented trumpet line playing Ghost Riders, there stands Jody, Tony, Ben, Warren, and Bryan giving their all.Thanks for the memories, Rest in Peace Jody.
