Susan Duche-Bernard

Susan Duche Bernard, Sue passed away peacefully on 12/17/2024.

Sue, originally of Warren Ohio moved to Speedway Indiana in the 90s with her husband, Gary Bernard.

Sue was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Criminal Justice from Kent State University.

Sue went on to work in a variety of industries but found her passion as a psychiatric social service specialist at the Indianapolis Juvenile Facility working with youth. Sue, also known as Mrs. Bernard by her countless students, worked to mentor found joy in inspiring those she had assigned in her caseload and was always a hit as she tried to learn the latest dance craze the youth would teach her.

When the Indianapolis Juvenile Facility relocated, Sue continued her career with the Indiana Department of Correction serving in a variety of roles at the Plainfield Correctional Facility.

Sue loved trying to make a difference in those she worked with.

In addition to her passion for working with incarcerated individuals Sue was a diehard sports fan.

Sue's love for the Cleveland Browns paired only to her love for Payton Manning. If it was game day, Sue would be glued to her sofa waiting for game time.

Sue is proceeded in death by her mother Mildred, Father David, brother Thomas (Tommy) and sister-in-law Gail all of Warren Ohio.

Sue is survived by the love of her life and husband of 38 years, Gary Bernard. In addition to her husband, Sue is also survived by her brother, Billy and wife Lorraine of Lomita California

Nephews Micheal of Pittsburgh, Danny, of Denver Colorado, and Alex of Flagstaff, Arizona; and her nieces Kerrie of Santa Cruz, California and Jenny of California.

Sue leaves behind countless friends and loved ones, especially those in Warren Ohio and Indianapolis Indiana.

Sue's family would like to share that Sue, while often described as being very matter of fact and blunt, loved with her whole heart and once she claimed you as her own, you were forever part of her world.
