Jean Johnston

Jean Elizabeth Johnston, 93, Indianapolis, died September 22, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie Tangeman. Mrs. Johnston worked at Indiana Bell and Roselyn Bakery prior to her marriage to her late husband David. She and David spent four years working at a Christian Children's Home in Springfield, MO. After her return to Indianapolis she devoted much of her time to the Westlake Church of Christ by regularly volunteering. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Louise Morrow, Nellie Williams and Marjorie Dalby. She is survived by two brothers, Robert (Marjorie) Tangeman and Carl (Ethel) Tangeman and sister, Carol Jean; sons, Stephen (Patricia) Brownlee, Richard (Lana) Brownlee and Dave Johnston Jr; daughters, Diana Brownlee, and Mary Davis; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Visitation will be Saturday, October 11 in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indianapolis, from 9 - 11am with a memorial service immediately following. Special thanks is given to the loving staff at The Altenheim Health and Living Community for the care and compassion extended to Jean during her days in their hands.
