Rebecca A. Oaldon, 76, Indianapolis, passed away March 13, 2015. Rebecca was born to the late Helen and Alfred Wellinghoff on August 10, 1938 in Indianapolis. Rebecca graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1956 before returning to Indianapolis in 1958. She worked as a graphic designer in the Army Civilian Service at Fort Harrison for 32 years. She later worked for Krieg Brothers Catholic supply for several years as a book buyer. She lived a very rich and fulfilling life that was marked by her willingness to help others. She was a very beautiful woman who was dedicated to her faith and family. She was actively involved at St. Michael the Archangel church in Indianapolis and the Divine Mercy chapel there. She held weekly prayer groups in her home to pray for the sick and suffering and occasionally went on pilgrimages around the world to pray. Rebecca was also exceptionally creative. She was a gifted artist who could paint in any media, but particularly liked to paint landscapes and still lifes in oils and acrylics. She also painted signs for local businesses and even custom designs on motorcycles and sprint cars. However, she will probably be most remembered for the creative Halloween costumes she made and the custom graphic t-shirts she stenciled for her children and their friends in the 1970s. She is survived by William Oaldon their four children: Mark (Andrea) Oaldon, Michael Oaldon, April Davis, and Matthew (Danielle) Oaldon. Sisters: J'Nene (Larry) Jessup, Mary Patterson and Helen Madison. Her grandchildren: Andrew Oaldon, Christopher (Kristin) Oaldon, Nona King, Daniel Oaldon, Steven (Brandi) Mason, Jake Davis, Trinity Davis, Lucus Oaldon, Gianna Oaldon, Dominic Oaldon, Naomi Oaldon, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8pm Wednesday, March 18 at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St. in Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Thursday, March 19 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 3354 W. 30th St. in Indianapolis. My heart is heavy knowing Aunt Becky is no longer with us. I know she is in the arms of the I need she served, Jesus Christ. She never turned a blinds eye when it came to helping people. Aunt Becky you will always be in my heart and mind. I am praying for her children and grandchildren...all my cousins. May you run and not be weary ever again Aunt Becky. I love you Always!!

Becky was an awesome woman. I especially loved and appreciated how much she loved her grandchildren. From a mother's perspective, I knew that Lucus was in great hands when he spent time with her. She will be missed and I know that she will be praying for all of us which is also a great comfort. My condolences to the Oaldon Family.

I worked with Becky for 13 years at Ft. Harrison and have many treasured memories of the times we shared. I often think of that period as the best years of my career and that she was a part of it. She was fun loving, and a joy to work with. I remember the late night projects we worked on, and the many trips we did which were always an adventure. We had a lot of fun times and laughter in the workplace because Becky was there. She was very energetic, always ready to take on any creative challenge. She was also very giving and helped me in many ways. She will be fondly remembered. My deepest condolences to the Oaldon family. Diane Hitchcock

Becky will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. I have so many treasured memories, spending much of my youth at the Oaldon household. Mark has been my best friend since 2nd grade 1970. Mike was as well, soon after. That's probably the same year I first met Becky. She had a way of making all the friends feel at home. I've always considered her my second mom. Aside from her job, she was always on the go, or doing something creative. I remember Becky making those custom designed t-shirts, the face painting & an amazing sketch of Elton John, using only a pencil. I remember helping Becky build a small carnival in her yard for a fund raiser. All of us had wonderful parents, but for me, Becky was the most fun. Just all the little things she did daily. Even car rides with Becky, had their moments. Whether she was shifting those gears in a van or a VW Beetle, we would talk her into doing a donut on a snow covered lot, or going fast over a small bridge in Garfield Park, so it would tickle our bellies on the way down. Becky always let me tag along. I came to know her parents, her sisters & their families. But most important of all,I met Lisa, the mother of my children. Though the marriage didn't last, we have three wonderful children, two beautiful grandchildren & expecting a third very soon. For these reasons & many more, I am so grateful & blessed that Becky welcomed me in & treated me like family, all those years ago. Every parent can only hope, when their kids are not home, that there is a Becky Oaldon influencing them. I would like to add, I am so proud that my kids are a little part Wellinghoff, just like the children of my friend from 2nd grade. My condolences to the Oaldon Family, her sisters and all the extended family. Becky touched so many, many lives and we are all that much better, because she did. God Bless you Becky.
