Obituary
Paul V. Bailey, 63, of Indianapolis passed away October 15, 2015. He was born in Indianapolis on December 28, 1951 to Paul R. and Lucille E. (Russell) Bailey. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bernadette Maled Bailey and sisters, Vicky L. Volpp and Becky Bailey. Paul was a devoted husband, father, and brother. Paul was a Vietnam veteran and served in the United States Navy. He retired from Allison Transmission, was an avid golfer and loved to fish. He is survived by daughters, Hannah Bailey and Autumn Arnold; brother, Michael A. Bailey; sisters, Christi S. Bailey and Shara L. Nieman; and four granddaughters. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a rosary at 5:30 p.m. in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A Mass of Christian Burial will held on Monday, October 19, at 11 a.m. in St, Christopher Catholic Church, 5302 W. 16th St., Speedway.

I am so sorry hearing about Paul's passing. He and I worked together for a few years at Allison's but we were friends outside of there. We fished together at Big Lake in Ely Minnesota in 1984 and ran into him again on the same lake in 1986. He was a good person and I really enjoyed being around him.

I just want to try to express my deep sorrow to Christy, Shara, and Mike, as well as Hannah and Autumn. Paul will be greatly missed by our family. He was always a calm person, always sharing his sense of humor, and even positive in the face of disaster. Christy will remember our boating accident where I swamped my dad's boat in the very cold March waters below Wheeler Dam on the Tennessee River. The boat capsized and Paul, Christy, and I were in the turbulent water. We could have panicked and worse, but Paul kept his cool and yelled "stay with the boat". We did as he said, and we were later rescued by some other fishermen. But, I believe that it was Paul who really saved us that day. I'm glad that I have many more fond memories. I'll miss you Paul.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. He will be greatly missed. Sickness and death is what Adam the first man left us (Romans 5:12) Everlasting life is what God extends to us all. (John 17:3) I encourage you to turn to him in prayer and he will surely sustain you. Please take care.

My condolences to the family and friends. The last book of the bible (Rev. 21:3,4) talk about a restored paradise where the human family will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free of sickness, disease and death, as we welcome back our dear loved ones. May the wonderful memories of Paul your loved one provide comfort to you during this difficult time.

Paul and I worked together at Chefs Pantry in the early 70's. He was a good man always there when someone needed a favor. I told him about my success on the Dr. Atkins diet and it also worked for him. I remember his sister Vicky and was sorry to hear of her passing. Rest in peace "BEAR".
