Obituary
Peggy Jean Samuels, 83, of Indianapolis passed away on March 16, 2016. She was born in Melburn, KY on August 9, 1932 to John Edmond and Dixie Lee (Cumby) Long; where she grew up on a farm. Peggy loved God and the Son. She was a member of Drexel Gardens Christian Church. She loved her family, friends, babies and animals. Peggy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was laughing and cutting up with people. Peggy enjoyed making clothes, crafts and gardening in her flower beds. She worked in retail sales and as a seamstress making men's suits. Peggy started playing music with her brother Jody and his wife Daisy in the late 50's, and from that start she played music with her own band for 35 years known as “Peggy and the Cast-A-Ways.” She played base and sang country music. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jodie and Jake Long; sisters Evie Will, Francis, Eidith, Florence, Jannie and Acelene; one grandson, Ronnie G. Robinson Jr. Peggy leaves behind to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Mr. Henry L. “Hank” Samuels; daughter, Joan Crowder; son, Ronnie Gene Robison , daughter-in-law Shelia ; step-children, Chris (Steve) Tullie, Earnest (Debra) Samuels, Janiene (Jay) Downs and Theodore (Elizabeth) Samuels; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; adopted families, Linda and Dean Gail, Sandra Guiarimo, Robert Chavez and Claudia Ruiz; special friends Bobbie and Julie, Mike and Jennifer, Mark and Jackie, Joyce Spears and Teresa Long. She will be loved and missed by many. Peggy was the “Grandma” to many neighborhood kids.

Aunt Peggy was a special lady and throughout my life she has been an inspiration to me. To her husband, Hank, and her children, Joan & Ronnie, my dear cousins, I pray you will be comforted by knowing your wife and mother is at peace. Aunt Peggy's spirit will live forever in our hearts. It was an honor and privilege to have known Peggy and play music with her for many years, I learned so much from her and loved her like Mom! We were partners in mischief on the stage, until Hank would come up and point his finger at both of us and thats all it took to shut us up! I will continue to keep you in my prayers Hank and love you also! The band is almost back together again and we will play together again one day soon!

My condolences to the family. The loss of a loved one is never easy but my you find comfort from God's word the Bible that says at Acts 24:15 that there is going to be a resurrection. With this hope it is possible for you to see her again.We are given more hope as we read Rev. 21:3, 4 that talk about a restored paradise earth where mankind will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free of sickness, disease and death as we welcome back our dear loved ones. May these bible verses help give you peace as God sustains you, and may all the many wonderful memories that Peggy your loved one provided comfort you during this most difficult time.
