One of my fondest memories of Grandpa John is from a visit to the BnB, where I met the two Boston Terriers he rescued, whom he ADORED. He called them his puppy dogs with a drawl that extended dog to 2 syllables (dew-og). It’s what I call dogs to this day.
He loved and was loved by all his family. He will be missed. ❤️

John Juerling was always a kind and generous person in both personal and professional encounters. I met him many years ago as a youngster at St. Mary’s in Richmond and later in adult life at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. He was always giving of his time and talents. The original sausage fest at St. Thomas began as his idea to help raise money to cover the cost of deferred maintenance-what an inspiration. His idea continues each year and has benefited in raising many hundreds of thousands of dollars; however, I believe true gift of John’s inspiration for sausage fest has been an increase in community spirit and a greater attitude toward hospitality for the neighborhood. Well done faithful servant!
