Florence Payne

Florence W. Payne, 92, of Indianapolis passed away on May 20, 2016. She was born on April 22, 1924 in Evansville, IN to Joseph and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Weis. Florence held various positions of employment. She worked on the assembly line for Western Electric, a loving lunch lady at St. Michael Catholic School, a clerk for Wonder Bread Hostess Cakes and the line server and silverware / napkin roller extraordinaire. Florence was very active in church, first at St. Michael and, most recently, at St. Christopher. Florence LOVED her family and gathering. She loved music and dancing, ice cream, game shows, her soap opera “Stories”, card games, word search puzzles and Yahtzee. Florence liked spending time outdoors, going for walks and people watching. Florence is survived by her sons, Kerry Payne and Terry (Jan) Payne; granddaughter, Jessica (Danny) Sullivan; grandson, Jonathan Payne; great-granddaughter Cassidy Sullivan; brother, Walter (Evelyn) Weis and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Mr. John Payne; daughter Gale Payne; sister, Helen (Roy) Smith; brother Alvin (Sarah) Weis, Albert (Mary) Weis, Harold (Ann) Weis and William (survived by Vernette) Weis.
