Marie Elizabeth Minnemeyer

1926 – 2025

Marie Elizabeth Minnemeyer, 98, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. A woman of remarkable strength, independence, and kindness, Marie lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.

Born in Indianapolis in 1926, Marie built a long and successful career working as a judicial assistant, where her intelligence, diligence, and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact. She carried this same determination into all areas of her life, never backing down from a challenge while always extending warmth and kindness to those around her.

Marie's greatest joy in life was her family and friends, whom she loved more than anything. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories through home-cooked meals, heartfelt conversations, and unconditional support. A woman of many passions, she found happiness in cooking, traveling, knitting, and gardening—sharing her talents and love with all who knew her.

She is survived by her grandsons, Ross Gaddy (Savannah Gaddy) and Christopher Gaddy (Emily Gaddy); her granddaughters, Megan Siddal (Ben Siddal); Tonry Hughes, her grandson, Ryan Hughes, her great-granddaughters, Eleanor Gaddy and Zoe Siddal; and her stepdaughter, Karen Minnemeyer. She also leaves behind several cherished friends who became family over the years.

Marie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Maureen Gaddy; her son-in-law, Charles Gaddy; and her husband, Joe Minnemeyer.

A private dinner will be held in Marie's honor to celebrate her life. The family appreciates the love and support from all who knew her and kindly requests that this gathering remain intimate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dress for Success-Indianapolis in her memory.

Marie's love, strength, and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

I first met her when i was in third or fouth grade. Maureen and Dad had just gotten engaged. She picked me up on Sundays and we would go to a library or to the art mueseum to watch Shirley Temple movies. (still my favorite) She taught me to cook and sew. I was in awe of her abilities. I am so fortunate to have known her. I love you lady and just know those skills are being passed down. Thank you for the nightgowns gowns you made us and for your patience. You will be missed.

Marie taught Maureen and I to be better woman as we progressed through life. Maureen and I were best friends from grade school though high school. Marie tried to teach us to cook and knit without much success, but she did not give up. Much laughter and happiness during those times. Hugs to all of her family which she LOVED dearly.
