Griffith Johnson

Griffith Kent Johnson, 92, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully at his daughter's house on March 28, 2025. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin to Harris O. and Lucille A. Johnson on May 20, 1932. Griffith graduated from Shortridge High School. He attended Butler University where he earned a Journalism Degree; he was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Griffith proudly served for our country in the United States Army from July of 1955 until July of 1957. In the 1970's he was a Director of Public Relations for Bryant Heating & Cooling. In the 1980's he worked in the sales department for Comcast Cable. Griffith loved fishing and playing cards. He was a music lover of all kinds, with over 1000 albums. He was an avid reader and history enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling including Europe. He was known as the neighborhood jelly bean source to the neighborhood kids. He always had a funny story to tell, loved to learn and teach others, especially during family and friends poker nights. Griffith was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Carol Johnson; daughter, Kathryn Carol West. He is survived by his son, Griffith Kirk Johnson of Crawfordsville, IN; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Johnson of Indianapolis; grandson, Allen Benjamin Carey Johnson and granddaughter-in-law, Lynne Carey Johson both of Whitestown, IN; granddaughter, Michelle Marie Johnson of Crawfordsville, IN; and close family member, Linda Sue Freed of Tilton, IL.
