John L. Riczo, Sr.

John L. Riczo, Sr., 88, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, after a long and meaningful life devoted to family. Born on April 30, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, John lived a full and generous life defined by quiet strength, service, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

At the age of 18, John proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor for four years. Following his military service, he began a distinguished 40-year career with Merrill Lynch, retiring as a respected stockbroker known for his diligence, integrity, and thoughtful guidance.

On October 6, 1962, John married Rosemary Schrader Riczo, at Holy Trinity in Indianapolis. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children. Their marriage was filled with love and shared values and remained strong until Rosemary's passing in September 2008.

John loved his family unconditionally and without judgment. He was a devoted father and grandfather whose quiet support and steady presence were constant sources of comfort and pride. A kind man who never knew a stranger, John had a gift for connecting with others—whether visiting with neighbors on his front porch or chatting with new friends wherever he went.

John's strong Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He remained devoted to the church and continued to contribute quietly and faithfully, often sending prayer cards to family and friends for birthdays, illnesses, and special occasions as a heartfelt expression of care and belief.

He remained active throughout his later years, tending his garden, feeding the birds, and delighting in the simple joys of each day. A lifelong sports enthusiast, John rarely missed a game, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and Indy Car racing with passion and loyalty. He also had a fondness for playing the lottery—always hopeful.

He is survived by his daughter, Regina Margiotti of Indianapolis; his son, John L. Riczo, Jr. (Lesa) of Carmel, IN; his son, Jerry Riczo of Speedway, IN; and his beloved grandson, Maxwell Riczo of Carmel, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; his father, John S. Riczo; his mother, Antonia "Babe" Riczo; and his brother, James Riczo.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Mary Walsh, Dr. Paige Huls, Dr. Zach Hodes and the entire staff at Ascension St. Vincent for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided to John over the years.

John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his warmth, his kindness, and his steady, unconditional love. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
