Paul Thomas Loviscek, 65 of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on June 10, 2025, surrounded by love and family.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Louis M. Loviscek Sr; his mother, Apolona “Pauline” “Polly” (Konechnik) Loviscek; and his brother, Louis Matthew Loviscek Jr.

He is survived by his beloved son, Jacob L. (Jessica) Loviscek; and his former wife, Susan Loughery Loviscek. Paul was one of seven children and is survived by his brother Bob (Mary Kay) Loviscek; and his sisters Arleen (Ray) Krebs, Madeline (Wayne) Barnett, Phyllis (Steve) Fon, and Sheryl (Terry) Thorpe. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom brought joy to his life.

A proud graduate of Cardinal Ritter High School, Class of 1978. Paul was a dedicated athlete and a member of the 1977 IHSAA State Championship football team. To this day, he holds the school and state record for most field goals made in a State Championship. A testament to his determination and talent. He continued his education at St. Joseph's College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in education.

Paul had a gift for connecting with young people, which he shared through coaching youth football. He especially cherished the time spent on the field with his son Jake, teaching not only the fundamentals of the game but the values of teamwork and perseverance.

He was a devout Catholic and a diehard Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed being security and organizing events at Crestwood / Neighborcare. Paul found deep joy in the simple things: cheering for the Irish, spending time with his family, being with his son Jake, and spoiling his sweet grand-dog Ava.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Malachy Catholic Church on Tuesday June 17, 2025 at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's honor to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Paul Loviscek. The first person I ever met whom "The Man, The Myth, The Legend" ever applied to in life. Paul (lovingly referred to as "Bunyan" at St. Joe) was my friend, my ally, my brother and my roommate in college. So many memories from those years and every one of them has his smile, his laugh and his shared fear of Dr. Groppe! I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you! I love you! Ted Frankowski

Ahhhh, my old friend “Bunny” as the gals from First West ( St. Joe’s) lovingly called him. He was legendary, and a heart of gold. I must say I had some of my favorite times at St. Joe’s with Bunny, Boomer and Ted. We had a group that melded so perfectly together and just enjoyed our time together. So many, many fantastic memories and I could not pick a favorite, they all rank up there. He was sweet, kind and generous, but he had a twinge of ( fun) wicked in him too. I think I laughed harder in his company than most anyone else. I am certain he will be missed by family, friends and students alike. He was such a GOOD man and that is rare these days. Though I haven’t seen you in years, I can still picture you sitting in your chair behind the bar, with one foot on the chair rail and the other on the lower bar shelf just smiling at the fun and happiness you brought together in your life. You were one in a million Bunny! I will say prayers for you and your son and family. God Bless I hope you are at peace… and THANK YOU for all the joy you shared with so many others around you. Loved that laugh that was contagious and the smile that lit up your face. You really were the GOAT !

During my college years at St. Joe’s, I don’t think I ever called Paul anything but “Bunyan.” The first time I saw him on campus he was walking from Gallagher in his overalls and had a genuine smile. I asked who he was and was told “that’s Bunyan.” My husband, Boomer, and Ted (or Thad) Frankowski were his roommates, and together we shared so many unforgettable memories. There was such joy in knowing Bunyan—partying together, laughing, and just being carefree college kids. We were lucky enough to visit Bunyan in 2017, and it felt as if no time had passed at all—the years simply melted away. I’m especially grateful for the texts we exchanged over the years. I’ll always cherish those messages, just as I’ll always treasure the time we shared. He was truly one of a kind. My heart goes out to his family. Rest in peace our Bunyan! Kathy Tonkovich Balicki

Our sympathies are with you, Jake, and the family! We lost a good, kind, and faith-filled man. Thanks, Paul, for all those great high school memories and beyond! My thoughts, prayers, and condolences are with all of entire Loviscek family. Paul and I grew up together in the same neighborhood and attended the same grade school and high school. We were classmates, teammates, and good friends. The memories of our friendship is blessing.
