Obituary

Sybil Rae Eddy Rairdon, 97, of Indianapolis died on April 14, 2019 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Myron E. and Hazel M. Eddy. She was a registered nurse, having graduated from St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing in Rockford, Illinois. She married Frank Rairdon in 1947. He died in 1981. She was also preceded in death by her brother Phillips Eddy, his wife Consuelo Sanz Eddy and their son Robert Alexander Eddy, and step-daughter Dina Rairdon Perrigo. She is survived by her nephew James M. (Pat) Eddy and her grandson Michael (Ann) Perrigo; niece, Carol Turner and nephew Jeffrey (Karen) Huddleston. Also surviving are long time dear friends Jerry and Joy Sobota; Ted and Jeannie Stephenson. Sybil was a long-time active member of the old Church of the Master on Girls School Road. She was so thankful for all the friends and family who helped her through surgeries and also her years of declining health, making it possible for her to remain in her home.

At age 28 I was a young doctor wet behind the ear. Sybil was my nurse and showed me the ropes. I was fortunate to have been her doctor. I am sure when Frank meets her he will say “where have you been.” She is home. RIP Sybil.

When I was 15-17 years old I would go to Aunt Sybil's house and do her lawn during the summers. She would always overpay me and afterwards she would fix me the BEST grilled cheese sandwiches (which I have never been able to duplicate)! She also took me on a cool tour of her backyard neighbors who at the time had lions, tigers and monkeys on their property. I got to play with a baby tiger which for me was unbelievable! Thanks Aunt Sybil for giving me such wonderful memories! May you rest in peace with God and the Angels in heaven... Jackie Huddleston Malone
