Obituary

Donald Oatess, 79 was born in Royal Center, Indiana to the union of Russell E. and Dorothy M. Oatess.  Donald worked at A & P Tea Company, Singer Sewing Machine, and OA Labs.  He was self-employed for twenty years.  Donald held membership with Boy Scouts of America.  He enjoyed camping, biking, football, basketball, and traveling.  Donald departed this earthly life on September 8, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his brother, William E. Oatess, Indianapolis, IN; and sister, Beth Ann Oatess-Chibber.  He leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Judy C. Oatess, Avon, IN; sons, Tony E. Oatess, Indianapolis, IN, Thomas E. Oatess, Avon, IN, and Timothy E. Oatess, Conroe, Texas.

 

Memorial Services service will be held at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St, Indianapolis on Sunday, September 22 with visitation from 3:00 PM until time of service.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson's at 1531 East Northfield, Suite 800, Brownsburg, IN 46112.

Most of us travel through life making good friends then moving on but if you are lucky you con have that one good friendship for a lifetime. Don was my lifetime friend. when we were 4 or 5 we played with toy cars in the sand box in front of the feed mill, one of my first memories. We were fortunate to be able to visit Don and Judy this past May. Don still had his characteristic wit and Judy was handling the situation like a pro. ( Parkinson's is not easy !) Don may be gone but his memories will stay in my heart. Judy! When I hear a bell I will think of you for you have surly won your wings. May God bless and keep you and your family !
