My mother was the Matriarch of the Purichia family. She loved all of her siblings as well as all of her neices and nephews and all of their children. Her wishes were for all of the family to stay close and keep in touch (though we all have busy lives). One of her thoughts and what she wanted to pass along to her family when things got rough was "Stay tough...always remember you have Purichia blood".

My Sister Catherine,
My first thought and memory of you, is how you took care of us, this role came natural to you and I'm so thankful for that.
Our big sister became a protector of 7 boys PA,Mike,Bill,Carol,Nick,Joe & Steve and EVERYONE knew it!
You were also a caring sister and friend to Nula and that is a wonderful gift.
You will always be remembered and loved.
Love Brother Mike

Catherine loved her family. She defended her brothers when they were young and word got out quickly not to mess with the Purichia’s or they would have to deal with her. Fortunately her brothers toughened up and were able to defend themselves and became accomplished athletes and coaches but she might’ve taught them to fight! Her best friend was her sister Nula they spoke every night on the phone. Once Nula became old enough she helped mom watch their brothers. She also spoke to grandma Purichia every night until she passed away. Nula and mom would plan family events and discuss family business. They worked to keep the family close together which became harder to do as kids grew up moved out and started families of their own. She Spent all day everyday with my father when he went in the nursing home and even though he was not alert knew she was there at his side. We always had pets at home with many litters of kittens that we had to find homes for. Mom Said the cats were Catholic so she would not get them fixed. She loved to watch football and basketball. If she ever missed a colts game or pacers game or Notre dame game she would ask the first person she saw if they knew who won the game and what the score was. She had many friends that she kept in touch with all her life and continued to make more as the years went on. She said one could never have too many friends. She always felt her brother Bill’s death was her fault since she encouraged him to go to college and play football and his death was the result of an injury from football. She was brought up by strict parents and still kept the old world values alive throughout her life. She was fortunate to meet some of our Romanian relatives when we traveled to Toronto but she would’ve loved to visit the old country. She lived to 90 and not all of us will be that fortunate but she was happy and pleased and had a full life.
