Obituary

Daniel Curtiss was born in Indianapolis, Indiana , November 10, 1956. to Leone (Thornton) and Kenneth Curtiss. He passed away Friday October 18, 2019.  He was  the youngest of four children.  He is succeeded by his sister Kathe, brother Bruce, and wife Catherine whom he married in November 11, 1983.

He worked in Transportation at Methodist Hospital for over 30 years.  Because he moved patients all over the hospital, everyone knew and liked him.   He was admired for his hard work, and diligence.

Music was Dan's passion.  He listened to it from the time he woke up til he had to go to work. He listened while he brushed his teeth, while, mowing the lawn, and while doing the bills!  His favorite artists ranged from John Prine, Leonard Cohen, to the Ramones.

His other passions were Formula 1 racing, and space exploration. He taped every race. When it came to space exploration, he made sure he watched the space station fly by in the night sky.

Kate and Dan traveled to every state on the Eastern Seaboard.  Their marriage was such that they had date nights every other weekend .  They never wavered in their love.

Dan and Bruce his brother got together every other weekend to eat chili, talk music, just hang out.  Their brotherly love knew no bounds.

It was the simple loves in Dan's life that really created a passionate life.

I have worked at Methodist for 34 years and knew Daniel from bringing and taking our patience. He was such a terrific guy, so friendly and such a hard worker. He was the last person I saw when I left on Friday, October 18, 2019. He was happy and well, his loss incomprehensible. I'm so sorry Kate, for his sudden departure. I know he will be greatly missed by all. You and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. With deepest sympathy, Deb Corbett, RN Interventional Radiology

Dan was such a nice man. I knew him for many years here at Methodist. We had many conversations over the years. I know that Dan loved his wife, his cats and his life. He was polite, kind and a gentleman. Rest in peace dear friend.

Daniel was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He calmly and quietly worked so hard, never complained, and was well-liked by all. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
