Obituary
Sherrell Anne McWilliams Niemeyer, 82, of Avon, IN passed away on July 4, 2020. Sherrell was born Indianapolis on December 19, 1937 to Floyd and Gwendolan (Tansel) McWilliams. Sherrell was an accomplished seamstress. She entered in State fair contests and won awards for her counted cross stitching. She also volunteered for many years and did sewing for scouting groups. She volunteered her time as a Poll worker and enjoyed camping and hiking with her family. Heaven holds a special place for the mother of five boys. Sherrell is predeceased by her parents; and son, Gregory Niemeyer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard Niemeyer; sons Christopher Niemeyer, Jeffrey Niemeyer, Steven (Bethany) Niemeyer and Michael (Sue) Niemeyer; grandchildren Matthew and Katherine Niemeyer; and brother, James McWilliams. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Covenant House Times Square Station P.O. Box 731 New York, NY 10108-0900.

I am one of Sherrells nieces by marriage. (Sandra Zickefoose Sadler Lane) We always called her Auntie Sherrell. She had a kind and loving soul. I believe she saw good things in those that others couldn't see. She gave me hope. I wasn't a part of her daily life. I just stepped in and out of her life a few times. But she made me feel like I belonged. I loved her. She will be missed. But I will keep her and her family in my heart as a memory always.

Sherrell and I were in the same off campus club at Tech. These were taken at a party in the 1950s. I was so sorry we were unable to attend any of the services due to this virus. The only time we have been in touch was at the Tech Reunions. I was always so glad that Sherrell and her husband came to them. Our last one was our 60th. It's a shame that we had to postpone our 65th reunion this last June. I think Jim will remember me, and Richard always seemed so nice when we had a chance to chat at the reunions. I just want to you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
