Ruth Ford

Obituary of Ruth Ann Ford

Ruth Ann Ford (née Suddeth), 73, formally of Indianapolis, IN, passed away March 29, 2024, at Community Hospital South, Indianapolis, IN. Ruth was born on September 8, 1950, to H.S. and Geraldine Suddeth (née Kremiller). She graduated from Northwest High School and received her cosmetologist diploma from House of James Beauty School. She spent many years working at Wishard Hospital and was also very successful in telemarketing.

Ruth was a source of strength and comfort for her parents, lovingly serving as their primary caregiver in the latter stages of their lives. At Greenwood Meadows Nursing Home, Greenwood, IN, Ruth was an active resident and friend. She was known by the residents and staff to be both full of life and a giver of life to the world around her. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and participating in crafts, but found her greatest joy attending Bible study and hanging out with her beloved roommate Brenda.

Ruth never met a stranger and was a radiant beam of light to all she encountered. She was not only very proud of her family, but loved to brag about their many accomplishments. She enjoyed a delicious meal, a catchy song and, when able, a good dance. She was certainly the life of the party. Ruth took on the adversities of life and her failing health with the heart of a fighter and the spirit of a survivor. She was truly one of a kind.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Diane Grove, her son Martin Lewis, her sister, Helen Conolty, her brother, Jerry Suddeth, and their spouses. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Samantha, Zoe, Nazar, Elisha and Zaryina; great-grandsons, Ivan, Daniel, Messiah and Ehrmais; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends, including the residents and staff of Greenwood Meadows.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved son, Bertram Bernard Lewis, Jr., as well as her parents, H.S. and Geraldine Suddeth (née Kremiller), her sister, Mary Tubbs, and her nephew Tom Tubbs, Jr.

A brilliant light can never be extinguished. Our Ruthie was loved by all who knew her, and she will live forever in our hearts.
