Shirley Ann Volz, 85, of Indianapolis passed away September 28, 2015 while at home under hospice care with her family caring for her. Shirley was born on May 27, 1930 in Elwood, IN to Frank and Marie Dickerson. Shirley graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1948. She married Robert Volz on September 1, 1951, and were happily married for 57 years. Shirley and Robert were members of St. Christopher Catholic Church where Shirley worked from 1971 to 1992 as the bookkeeper and rectory secretary for Father Leo Lindemann, Monsignor Francis Reine, and Father Mike Welch. Shirley also worked at Morris Plan in Indianapolis in the Collateral Department from 1948 to 1958. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert and sisters, Doctor Betty Dukes and Marybelle Rabourn. Shirley is survived by her three sons, Michael (Kim), Bernie (Lacee) and Mark (Lynn); seven grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher (Amber), Stefanie (Eric Smith), Tyler, Nicholas (Malori), Ryan and Brendan; four great grandchildren, Brady and Ally Volz and Coen and Macee Smith. Shirley loved animals so the family asks that contributions be made to your local Humane Society or to adopt an animal in need. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4 from 3 pm – 6 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 5 at 11 am in St. Christopher Catholic Church, 5301 W. 16th St., Speedway. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
